Developing an Electronic Court Records Disposition & Preservation Plan

With the transition to digital court records, the judicial branch faces increasingly complex questions regarding electronic records management policies and procedures. This interactive webinar will address strategies for long range policy development, as well as technical considerations for effective disposition and preservation of electronic court records. Referencing the recent Joint Technology Committee white paper, session presenters will discuss guiding principles and best practices for development of a comprehensive electronic court records management plan.

Electronic Criminal Environment (ECE) - 2015

In 2010, the judicial and administrative leadership of the Superior Court of California, County of Orange approved and established as a priority the creation of a complete electronic criminal environment (ECE) for managing case information, data, workflows and documents associated to criminal and traffic cases.

The Court’s return on investment in creating an ECE included:

  • Increased efficiency of Court operations (including records management);
  • Enhanced access to case information (internal and external Court users);
  • Improved exchange of case data and documents with justice partners; and
  • Ongoing cost benefit recovery of approximately $1.2million per year in salary and benefit savings, $80,000per year in printing costs, and $778,000 in off-site storage space.
